I sustained a back injury a number of years before I started training. When I started training with Evan, my goals were to protect against re-injury and to improve my strength.  

I had tried Physiotherapy and the careful use of medications for the injury.  Both turned out to be only temporary solutions. It didn’t feel like I was addressing the root problem. Nothing I tried before really had as much of an effect as strength training under Evan’s guidance.

In addition to improving my musculoskeletal health, personal training has been a good social outlet, it has improved my mental health, and it has allowed me to continue to workout on my own more safely and effectively.  I am a procrastinator by nature and can, at times, be lazy, so having someone there to push and challenge me is helpful.  Also, I have made gains in my strength that I never thought were possible to achieve on my own.

I’m 66 years old and have an athletic background with a variety of sports. I’ve spent time water skiing, snow skiing, and playing racket sports when I was younger. I took up endurance events such as Triathalon and cycling events into my 50s and beyond. I’ve been weight training for a few years with Evan and have noticed profound effects on my ability to push myself on my bike..

I experienced a fall on my bike a few years back and broke my hip. With the support of physio and Evan’s support in strength training, I’ve built myself back up to deadlifting 300lbs and also setting personal bests on the bike.

I’m a 53-year-old woman who, although I’ve always been active, never got into barbell strength training. Through Evan’s patient and knowledgeable instruction, I’m now completely hooked! From basically nothing, I can now deadlift 200 lbs. I can squat, overhead press, bench press, barbell row, and hip thrust confidently with good technique. I’ve lost 15 lbs since I started this type of training. My husband and I, who Evan also trained, now confidently work out on our own 3 days a week and continue getting stronger.

Before I started training, I was less healthy, more tired, and more out of shape. It had a spillover effect into other areas where I had little motivation for other challenges.

I tried to work out on my own using videos or apps, but I was inconsistent. I didn’t feel I knew the correct form and wasn’t seeing results quickly enough to stay motivated.

When I started with Evan, I was looking to reduce my body fat and build more muscle. I found that these were things that were affecting my happiness. I had tried going to the gym on my own and even tried taking a ”fat-loss” supplement, but I didn’t know what to do, and the supplement didn’t make a difference.

Evan is a very professional trainer. He knows my abilities and how far to push me better than I do. He always provides quality advice that I can trust. With Evan, I’ve been able to focus on my workouts like I never have before. I’ve built the confidence to lift weights that I would have never tried on my own. He’s helped me to stay positive and patient with the process of building muscle. I’m happy with how far my body has come in this time.
